Home Rewiring
Bexhill-on-Sea

Still deciding whether your house really needs a rewire? You're in good company. Most Bexhill homeowners come to us at exactly that stage, and we're glad to talk it through before a single floorboard moves — right up to the certificate you'll hold at the end.

Here's the thing about older wiring. It was never asked to feed an induction hob, a car charger and a home office all at once. Our Part P registered team has spent years rewiring homes across East Sussex, and every installation we fit is sized for the way you'll live in ten years' time, not just today.

Seafront villa? Bay-fronted terrace? Bungalow out towards Little Common? We carry out full house rewires and partial upgrades in every corner of Bexhill-on-Sea. Old walls hold no fear for us.

Want a feel for the numbers first? Fair enough. Try our quick online estimate, or give us a ring and one of the team will pop round for a proper look.

REGISTERED ELECTRICIAN

Every house rewire in Bexhill-on-Sea is delivered by a Part P registered contractor. Local work, done properly, first time.

Local Reviews

Heard From Our Bexhill Customers

★★★★★

"We'd taken on a 1930s semi up in Sidley with its original wiring still in the walls. The team planned the job so we could live downstairs throughout, added extra sockets for the home office without being asked twice, and left the place spotless each evening. Couldn't fault them."

About Brighton Rewire
The Way We Work

New Wiring, Ready for What Comes Next

Rewiring your home shouldn't put your life on pause.

Most Bexhill houses take us two to five days, top floor to hallway. Safety, price and finish all get the same care.

The secret? Planning. Every job is mapped before a cable is pulled, then handed to a crew who've rewired more homes than they can count.

Years on the job across Bexhill and East Sussex mean few property types can surprise us now. Fewer still behind the plaster.

We fill and skim every chase before we go, and we'll gladly add the extra sockets and circuits that future kitchens, car chargers and home offices will thank you for.

Worth Checking

Five Signs Your Bexhill Wiring Is Past It

Honest truth? A fair share of the Bexhill homes we survey don't need a full rewire. Some do, though — and these five signs are the ones we always treat seriously:

  • A fuse box without RCD protectionIf your board predates residual current devices, nothing is watching over the socket and lighting circuits — well short of what current standards call for.
  • Rubber or cloth-insulated wiring in the wallsPlenty of Bexhill's older villas and terraces still hide this. The insulation goes brittle with age. Touch it and it can simply crumble away.
  • Trips without an obvious culpritWhen testing can't trace repeated tripping to a single fault, it often means the wiring is worn out across the board rather than in one spot.
  • Faceplates that feel warm or humHeat, buzzing or scorching around a socket or switch points to a loose or overloaded connection behind it. Worth checking. Soon.
  • Several C1 or C2 codes on an EICR reportA report peppered with danger codes usually makes a full rewire better value than fixing each fault one at a time.

Spotted just one of these? A targeted repair may well be all your home needs. Whatever the survey shows, we'll tell you plainly.

Living Through It

What the Days Look Like

Nearly every house rewire in Bexhill finishes inside 2–5 days. Flats come in quickest. Larger or three-storey homes, or those with solid floors, need a day or two more — cable routes and what we find under the boards set the pace.

We take the house room by room, which is why most families simply stay put. You'll rarely lose the kitchen or a bathroom for more than a day, and the supply only goes off completely while the new board goes in.

Plaster repairs come included, never as an extra. Once the walls have dried you can decorate — and behind them you'll have wiring with room to spare for whatever the household plugs in next.

What We Offer

Two Ways We Rewire Bexhill Homes

For most Bexhill households, electrical rewiring comes down to one of two routes — and both get the same dust sheets, the same tidy-up and the same care with your home.

Here's how the two compare.

Full Home Rewire

When the whole installation has had its day, our full rewiring service starts again from scratch. Damaged fuse board? A switch that nips? Cable that's simply decades old? We replace every circuit, test as we go, fit a new consumer unit and renew sockets, switches and lighting throughout — adding the extra points a modern kitchen, car charger or home office will one day call on.

See what's included

Wiring Upgrade

Some homes don't need the full works. A wiring upgrade deals with the weak spots — tired cable runs, dated earthing and bonding, an old fuse box — while sound wiring stays where it is. Our Part P registered electricians always inspect before recommending. And if the survey shows the system genuinely can't be saved, we'll explain honestly why a full rewire is the wiser spend.

Explore upgrade options

Sitting somewhere in between? Where cabling tests well, a consumer unit upgrade on its own can modernise an older Bexhill fuse box — and if only part of the house needs attention, we'll quote for a partial rewire and nothing more. You'll get our recommendation after a proper look, never a hard sell.

Common Questions

Straight Answers for Bexhill Homeowners

What should I budget for a house rewire in Bexhill-on-Sea?

Every home prices differently. Bedrooms, the number of circuits, how the cables can be routed and the finish you choose all move the figure. For a quick steer, our online rewire cost calculator takes about a minute — and a free survey then turns that into a fixed written quote, with future extras like an EV charger point priced in from the start if you want them.

How many days does a Bexhill rewire usually take?

Plan for two to five days in most cases. A compact flat needs the least time; a three-storey house, or one with solid floors, needs the most. We confirm the schedule for your particular home before anything is booked in.

Do you work in the villages around Bexhill too?

We do. Cooden, Little Common, Sidley, Ninfield and Pevensey are all regular stops for our vans, alongside Bexhill-on-Sea itself. If you're in this part of East Sussex, one quick call will confirm we cover you.

What condition are the walls left in afterwards?

Ready for decorating. Filling and skimming every chase comes included in the job, never as an optional extra. The painting itself stays with you, simply because fresh plaster needs a couple of weeks to dry before it will hold a coat well.

Is your rewiring work Part P registered and certified?

It is. Our electricians are Part P registered, and every installation is tested to BS 7671 — the 18th Edition. At handover you receive an Electrical Installation Certificate: the paperwork buyers, insurers and letting agents ask to see, and proof your new wiring is set up for years of modern demands.

About the Area

Rewiring Homes in Bexhill-on-Sea

Bexhill-on-Sea grew into a genteel Edwardian seaside resort under the De La Warr family, and that heritage still shapes the town today. Its best-known landmark, the modernist De La Warr Pavilion, opened in 1935 and remains one of Britain's finest examples of seaside modernism. Bexhill also holds a place in motoring history as the setting for the first motor races held in Britain, in 1902, run along the seafront. Much of the town's housing is Edwardian villas and terraces, with interwar semis and bungalows spreading inland across East Sussex — and a good deal of that stock now carries wiring old enough to warrant a proper inspection or replacement, which is exactly the sort of property our Bexhill rewires are built around.
